Kala KA-15S Mahogany Soprano Ukulele
Category: koaloha soprano ukulele
In 2005, Kala's KA-15S entered the market, becoming the industry standard for an entry-level ukulele. Prior to this, the options were limited to either cheap toys or expensive, custom ukuleles. The KA-15S made the ukulele accessible to everyone, providing a high-quality, mahogany instrument with a warm, full-bodied sound at an affordable price. Kala has since expanded the 15 Series to include a variety of options, such as the Soprano Black (KA-15S-BLK), Soprano Long Neck (KA-15SLNG), Soprano Spruce Top (KA-15S-S), two with Hawaiian Tattoo laser etching (KA-15S-H1 & KA-15S-H2), and the traditional mahogany instrument now available in Concert (KA-15C) and Tenor (KA-15T) sizes. The company's focus has always been on providing customers with the best possible instrument for their money.
The KA-15S is well-suited for classroom use, practicing, and acoustic performance, making it the instrument of choice for schools. More people learn to play on a Kala ukulele than any other brand. This traditional mahogany soprano ukulele features a satin finish, delivering a bright, warm, and full-bodied tone. It is distinguished by its walnut fingerboard and bridge, mahogany neck, 12 brass frets, GraphTech NuBone, and Aquila Super Nylgut strings from Italy, as well as an etched Polynesian-style shark teeth rosette.
Kala ukuleles are played by some of the most renowned musicians around the world, including twenty one pilots, Vance Joy, dodie, EatMyUke, The Ukulele Teacher, and Zac Brown. The soprano ukulele is the most common and smallest size, with the shortest scale length and tightest fret spacing, typically tuned to G C E A.
